For the next few months, there might be some relief on the wallet squeeze though, with Woolworths announcing a season-long price drop on “more than 400 grocery staples”.
Woolworths claimed the initiative would save millions of dollars for customers.
The price drop will be in place from August 24 to November 29 this year, covering all of spring.
Affected products include some chicken mince, instant coffee, cheese, bread, butter, vitamins, yoghurt, and dips.
“Due to the higher cost of living being felt across all households in Australia, we know customers are looking for better value in their shop,” Woolworths chief commercial officer Paul Harker said.
“This is our largest seasonal Prices Dropped campaign to date and is just one of the ways to get better value by shopping at Woolworths.
“We will continue to invest and look for ways to help millions of our customers and our team save on their weekly shop.”
Woolworths’ Everyday Rewards is also offering five times the usual points on all transactions over $50 – but that promotion ends tomorrow.
