Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in her home in south-east Queensland.
Police said the 56-year-old woman was found in bed with injuries to her face and there was a “large amount of blood” on the lower floor of the property, just south of Brisbane.

The woman’s 58-year-old partner, who lives with her at the Victoria Point address, called police after finding the body at around 2am on Wednesday.

He is assisting with police enquiries.

“He’s provided us with a version of his observations last night and is continuing to assist us,” detective superintendent Andrew Massingham said.

A crime scene has been established at the house and a post-mortem will be conducted tomorrow.

It has not been confirmed if the death will be treated as suspicious with police confirming investigations “may take some time to conclude”.

Massingham said the man, who has been in a de facto relationship with the woman for 20 years, was visibly distressed.

“He was emotional and upset. He allowed access into the residence for QAS, I think at that time he was aware of the state of the deceased and was quite traumatised by that,” Massingham said.

“When she was found by the 58-year-old, it’s apparent in his view that she’d been deceased for a short period of time.”

Police confirmed they had been called to the property by the woman last month.

The nature of the call-out is under internal review.

There are no current domestic violence orders in place between the man and woman.
