Victor Chang Cardiac Institute’s Professor Jason Kovacic says normalising men getting heart checks is “really important” after a former Labor MP discovered his left artery into the heart was 95 per cent blocked.

Former Labor MP Philip Dalidakis said after the death of cricket legend Shane Warne he was encouraged by friends to get his heart checked – despite having “no symptoms” in relation to his heart “whatsoever”.

“If people are worried or have risk factors as he had, that should be the trigger to go and get checked out,” he told Sky News Australia.
