CCTV footage has captured the moment a store worker repelled two suspected armed robbers from a central Queensland petrol station by throwing a metal stool.

The camera filmed as two masked people left an allegedly stolen Volkswagen before entering a store in Marian, near Mackay, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

One other person remained in the vehicle, with NSW registration CVZ12H.

Video appears to show the two people waving a knife and a meat cleaver at a 37-year-old employee, who police said they asked for money.

The worker refuses and instead launches a metal stool at one of the intruders, who are then seen fleeing the Anzac Avenue store.

The 37-year-old was not injured in the confrontation.

Police alleged they were later called to Mount Pleasant, Mackay, where two people had broken into a convenience store by smashing the glass front door.

CCTV footage shows two people, one wearing a white hat and gloves.

“Whilst inside the shop, the pair damaged and stole property,” police alleged.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. (Queensland Police)

“The Volkswagen was located at 7am today on Hume Street, West Mackay, in a burnt-out condition.”

Mackay detectives are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the two incidents or who may have dash cam footage of the vehicle described to come forward with information.
